BEN BOERSMA
The creator of the Occulites is
passionate about family, creativity,
conservation, education and the
environment.
​
He is a primary teacher by day, focusing on developing critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as embracing creativity and the imagination. He uses board games extensively in his teaching to help engage and challenge the thinking of his students.
​
Ben has an affinity for frogs and has always held the environment and nature close to his heart. As such, he is always looking to raise awareness of the need to protect our environment and the native species that live there.
​
He loves spending time with his family, designing and playing games as well as being in nature. Oh... and he has a terrible sense of humour.

SHAE BOERSMA
Shae is passionate about family,
animals, education and instilling a
sense of wonder and creativity in
others.
​
She is a also a primary teacher, striving to build empathy and kindness in her students. She puts a strong focus on encouraging her students to develop their own independence and to be the best that they can be.
​
Shae loves spending time with her family and believes that board games are a great way to bring people together and create memorable moments.
​
She enjoys getting out in nature and exploring with Ben and their kids. She has an uncanny affinity for dice and no matter what the odds are, you can be sure that she'll roll what she needs.

Darwin Games was established in 2011 by husband and wife team Ben and Shae Boersma, when their
Occulite creations were ready to leave the comfort of their home and explore the wilderness.
They are based in Australia and continue to work to develop and publish games that create memories and bring
families and friends together around the table, face to face.
